The Challenge
Freshness, aroma retention and a shelf look that reads specialty rather than commodity.
Our Solution
Folding carton with degassing valve compatibility, matte finish and a single spot colour for shelf blocking.
The Result
Adopted as the roaster’s standard retail box across three origins.
Project Story
Coffee Retail Box started from a single constraint: freshness, aroma retention and a shelf look that reads specialty rather than commodity. The failure mode we had to design out first was grease wicking through the board — everything else in the specification follows from that.
Structure
We resolved it with a lid-and-base rigid box, sized to the actual contents rather than to a stock die-line. A moulded pulp tray holds each piece at a fixed position, so the pack arrives square and opens the same way every time.
Materials
Coated art paper over rigid board carries the load. Board grade and wall thickness are matched to the weight and fragility of the contents, so the box survives palletised freight without corner crush or lid bow.
Printing and finishing
Branding is applied with precision die-cutting and finished with gloss lamination for colour depth. Colour runs to CMYK, with Pantone spot matching for brand-critical marks and a printed proof before the run.
Quality control
Each run is checked against the approved sample: dimensions, insert fit, colour density and finish adhesion. Drop and stack tests are available for export shipments.
Applying this to your project
Adopted as the roaster’s standard retail box across three origins. Die-line, insert tooling and board spec are kept on file, so repeat runs need no re-tooling. Send us product dimensions and target quantity for a quote against this structure.
